Pool Filler Upgrade to Timer.

This older Temecula home with a pool had a manual valve to fill the pool so we upgraded it to a timer that can be adjusted to keep up with seasonal evaporation and pool parties!

A pool filler with a timer works by automatically filling the pool with water at scheduled times. Here's how it works:

1. The pool filler attaches to your outdoor water spigot or hose. It has a hose that connects to the pool's skimmer or return line.

2. You set the timer to turn the water on and off at specific times. For example, you may set it to fill the pool for 30mins overnight when water use is lowest.

3. When the timer turns the water on, it opens a valve that allows water to flow from your outdoor spigot through the hose or in our case PVC hard pipe plumbing and into the pool.

4. The flow rate depends on the water pressure from your outdoor spigot and the size of the hose. Most pool fillers have a 1 inch hose that provides a good flow rate.

5. The timer will automatically turn the water off after the programmed time, closing the valve and stopping the flow of water.

6. This allows the pool to fill up slowly and evenly overnight while you sleep. In the morning, the pool is ready for use without you having to manually fill it.

7. The timer can be programmed to repeat the fill cycle daily, weekly or only as needed to maintain the proper water level in your pool.

So in summary, a pool filler with a timer automates the process of refilling your pool by turning the water flow on and off at scheduled times. This allows the pool to fill up when it's most convenient, reducing the manual labor required to maintain your pool's water level.
