Water leak = water damage
Sometimes things leak. Unfortunately drywall doesn't do very well as wet-wall. We have been getting lots of calls about mysterious water spots showing up in walls and ceilings lately. Usually this means a plumbing fixture, drain or pipe is leaking. Today we had a really hard time finding the leak. The difficulty was in the number of plumbing fixtures that were directly above the water spot in the ceiling. There were two toilets, two bathtub-shower units, and four vanity sinks! Which meant there was a lot o variables that needed to be checked. We first had to cut an access hole in the drywall allowing us to service the plumbing and see the problem area clearly. Then we ran the water at all the various fixtures to see which item was leaking. It ended up being the master bathroom toilet that was leaking. After isolating the issue we were able to remove the bad toilet wax ring and repair the drywall. After some drywall texture and touch up paint things were back to normal.
