Tall Baseboards

We walked through options at Hank’s Hardware & Lumber with a client in Temecula, CA to figure out what new baseboard to install.

We picked up this white 5 1/2” curved baseboard (354 MUL) with a curved edge. We initially had discussed a square, but decided the curved was more elegant.

We laid out our baseboard, used 6” paint rollers to apply our primer & paint and went to town.

One challenge was to get the baseboard installed around the bullnose corners of the house. Take a look at this column to see what I mean. The miter cuts at the bullnose edge require 2) 22.5⁰ cuts, which is confusing at first because you’re looking at a 90⁰ angle, but then you have to factor in the 45⁰ piece that’s wedged in there.

As you can tell from the photos, we lay down ram board to keep the floors nice. We are not in the business of creating more problems!
