Posts, Deck, & Pergola Stain

We did a big wood refinish job in Rainbow, CA. We went back and forth on the 12” posts with what to do, as some of them were in better condition than others. Often times the homeowner will want to save money on the re-finishing process, so we debate whether or not we can get by with a simple clear coat, vs doing the whole work of sanding & stain application.

The challenge with any stain project is matching old wood / stain with new wood / stain. You have to make it clear to the client that despite your best efforts, there is going to be a difference in the end product.

For those that are curious, we used a Penofin Penetrating Oil Based Finish, “Sable” & “Redwood”.
