Dedicated Circuit
What is a dedicated circuit and why is it important?
A dedicated circuit is a line coming directly from your panel that feeds one single appliance, piece of equipment or plug.
The reason why its important is because areas like the kitchen require a certain amount of dedicated circuits for it to pass inspection. Often times our clients will say that they want to cover up outlets that they don’t use, simply because they think its ugly; they’d rather replace it with i.e. a tile backslash. We like to explain to our clients that you want to think from the perspective of one day selling the property. And if so, “what needs to be done?”. We help you through this entire process.
There is a minimum requirement of seven circuits that are needed in a kitchen. There may be more if needed. There is a 15-amp basic lighting circuit, two 20-amp small appliance circuits, and five dedicated circuits for specific appliances.
