DIY Painters Tip

I like to help home owners and DIY’s out with some simple tips from time to time and today we have this old clip on painting preparation on some fascia. We were working on some facia that is southern facing and so it gets a lot of abuse from the sun. This makes even the best of paints peel up, flake and eventually lose adhesion with the wood trim. This is a result of all of the expansion and contraction that happens every day and night. The best paints now have elastomeric properties and can hold up to this expansion/contraction cycle a lot better than older paint. The first step to any good paint job is cleaning in preparation. If you do not remove all of the loose paint, wood chips or dirt from the surface you want to paint then you will not be able to get proper adhesion and your paint job will not last very long after you apply it.
